About Mayfield Forestry
With decades of experience in arboriculture, agriculture and forestry, Harry Simms established Mayfield Forestry in 2021, with the intention of providing an alternative approach to woodland management, focussed on harvesting timber while avoiding damage to the remaining trees and land.
We are based near Droitwich and operate mainly within Worcestershire and the neighbouring counties.

Establishing Rides and Glades
Open areas within a woodland provide improved access, pleasant paths to walk or ride, and are a great feature for wildlife. Species that benefit from grassed areas within a wood include dormice, dragonflies, nightingales, and butterflies. Once properly established, rides and glades only require infrequent mowing to maintain, a service that we can also provide.

Thinnings and Timber Harvesting
Thinning is an essential part of producing high quality, valuable timber. Generally this is done by felling rows of trees. This technique results in good trees being taken with the bad.
Alternatively, by using small, nimble machinery and specialist extraction techniques, Mayfield Forestry can perform selective thinnings, removing only damaged and defective trees, improving overall quality.
